As president of the SASJ, I launched in 2013 the idea to bring to Lausanne, Switzerland, one of the next World Conference of Science Journalists (WCSJ), an event that attracts every second year between about 1000 journalists from all over the world.
In 2015, I asked the French (AJSPI) and Italian (SWIM) sisters associations to join ASJS in that endeavor and form the Alpine Consortium. In February 2017, four cities proposed their candidacy to host this worldwide event: Madrid, Copenhagen, Montreal and Lausanne. After defending our bid at the WCSJ2017 in San Francisco, we had the honor to see our project chosen. This largely thanks to a very strong bid, and half of its 2.3 million CHF budget already secured at the time of choice of the winning bid.
On January 2018, during a Kick-off event at the SwissTech Conference Center in Lausanne, home of the WCSJ2019, we launched the full and concrete organization, by a team of about 20 persons and a board of 8, which I have the pleasure to both chair. My tasks include fundraising, supervising the entire processes of organization, promoting the event worldwide and networking with our local, national and international partners.
As the Swiss delegate to the World Federation of Science Journalists (WFJS), I am representing our swiss association among the 59 member-associations of the WFSJ. I take part in General assemblies and serve as consultant on some journalism projects. Within the framwork of the WCSJ, I also serve as direct link between the WFSJ and our three swiss, french and italian associations, grouped under the entity «Alpine Consortium »
